I'm curious... How did you get the magic around the Ranger (and minigun) to be like that? It looks like it follows the around the edge of the aura, but I can only get Inkscape to have gradient fills that are either round or linear. And it looks too smooth to be Interpolated.
Well for magic aura I first make a wavy shape which goes around the object. I then make it transparent at around 30.
Then I duplicate that shape Ctrl-d and then go to dynamic offset in paths. And reduce the size of the object. Swap out the fill for a stroke. Increase the thickness quite a lot. And then blur to 10%. Then duplicate and make the new stroke back to 1 and no blur. Then select both the blurred and normal stroke and go to path-select-clip. And once done press Ctrl-alt-C and that should be it.
Ah... You put a blur on it. Now that you say that, it seem really obvious. Been using Inkscape for about a year and a half now and I never thought of doing that way, so I usually try to avoid doing magic. But now that I have a tried-and-true method with the outcome I like, I can start doing that. Thanks!
If you are behind on your reading then you should really like this one, this one and this one. You know that, whatever they were going to be, you would really enjoy them - if you could only get around to reading them.
